We’ve curated our Wild Swim Ibiza retreat for salty souls who want to experience the beauty and energy of Ibiza through a swimming lens. From our beautiful villa in the heart of the campo we will be exploring the quieter, laidback and bohemian side of the White Isle, think secret calas (coves) and crystal clear teal coloured waters.

This retreat is for everyone, whether you like a quick dip or to put in some distance, we know you will really enjoy this magical watery escape!

ITINERARY

DAY 1
Welcome to Ibiza!

Arrival on your Balearic home for the week and transfers to your island home, a beautiful villa in the heart of the Campo.   There will be time for you to settle in and explore your space, then welcome drinks and snacks by the pool so that we can all get to know one another and talk about our plans for your retreat with us.

Your experience starts with a relaxed swim, dinner and sunset at one of the most picturesque locations on Ibiza – think waters to rival the Caribbean and a back drop of Balearic beats.

DAY 2
After a delicious breakfast at the villa we will head out for a swim in the idyllic coves of the Northern part of the island.

We will bring lunch with us to eat at the beach and there will be time for a second swim before we meander home via picturesque San Joan in time for a technique session in the pool and a gentle meditative Yin Yoga class before dinner.

DAY 3
A morning swim follows breakfast at the villa. then back to the villa for a hearty lunch. We have planned an optional pool technique session after lunch at the back at the villa. Or you will have time to relax or explore the local village.

At 6pm we will be headed for a swim, and a sunset beach picnic at one of Ibiza’s beautiful sunset spots.

DAY 4
After breakfast we head to Ibiza town to catch the ferry to stunning Formentera.

You will be free to explore the island by bicycle before we meet for a swim and then lunch at an incredible location (the clue is in the photo). There will then be time for more cycling, swimming and soaking up Formentera’s white sand beaches and turquoise waters before we head back to Ibiza.

After an adventurous day island hopping our Swim Sistas chef will have a delicious dinner waiting for us at the villa.

DAY 5
Another yummy breakfast at the villa and then for the last full day of our retreat we have planned a full beach day with our swims wrapped around a relaxed lunch at one of our favourite beachfront restaurants

Back at the Villa our swim tired limbs will be eased in another Yin class with Ruth before we gather for our finale evening dinner.

DAY 6
We will be up at dawn for a sunrise swim to maximise our final morning followed by a hearty brunch to set you up for your onward travel.

After brunch and farewells we have organised transfers to the airport or your onward accommodation.

Please note this is a suggested itinerary and it may change in response to weather, sea conditions and the wishes of the group.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR OPEN WATER SWIMS

Swimming in the sea or the ocean is a totally different experience to swimming in a swimming pool and confidence in open water comes from time spent in it.  Good technique is essential with anything so we’ll be working in the pool on improving technique so that your stroke is more efficient and therefore less tiring when you swim.  You will then have the opportunity to put your new skills into practice when we swim in the sea.

If you are new to any sport that involves open water swimming and your experience of swimming in the ocean or sea is limited then you will benefit greatly from this retreat.

Triathletes and experienced open water swimmers will benefit from the tuition on technique and experience and stamina built in the open water swims.

What you will gain from your open water swimming technique sessions:

  • Improve swim technique, efficiency and stamina
  • Gain and improve water confidence in open water
  • Be calm in open water
  • Feel more confident and experienced in open water whatever open water sports you do
  • For surfers know that you can swim in to shore should your leash or board break


YOUR SWIM GUIDES

Ruth and Hannah are both experts in their field and happiest in the ocean, you will be safe and happy in their hands as they help you to fine tune your swim technique, accompany your open water swims and share their strategies for ocean confidence with you.

Ruth Osborn is a competitive swimmer from childhood, a surfer and a freediver.  Her favourite place to be is in, on or under the water, preferably in Ibiza or the tropics.

She is a UK ASA qualified swim instructor with over a decade of teaching and coaching experience.  She’s also a freedive coach and athlete and recently was on the British team at the AIDA Freediving world championships – she knows how to relax and how to move in the water, she knows how to be safe in open water and she knows how to teach it so you can be more at ease, be more efficient (if that’s your goal) and most importantly enjoy it more. 

As well as leading our swim sessions Ruth will gently guide us through a meditative yin practice during our retreat.  In 2019 she expanded her teaching portfolio to include yin yoga completing a 100 hour YTT in Yin yoga.  

She has competed in open water competitions in Ibiza distances ranging from 2-7km and was on the podium for most of them. She runs a successful private swim tuition business in Ibiza, Ibiza Swim, which she set up in 2007. and (prior to getting hooked on surfing and then freediving) she was coach for two seasons of Ibiza Masters and Club Natacio Portus – two of the local swim teams. She loves sharing her knowledge, expertise and passions for swimming and the water and watching as swim technique, along with enjoyment of swimming, is transformed under her tutelage.

Ruth loves sunrises and sunsets, moon rise and moon sets, indulgence days (which usually involve a glass or two of red or sparkling wine), good food, good company, laughter, adventure and loungewear.

Hannah Waller is a STA qualified Open Water Coach, Swim Instructor and Aquaphobia Coach. Having spent most of her childhood in the water, always enjoying the freedom of open water swimming and the opportunity it gives to challenge her limits Hannah decided to take her passion and turn it into a career.

She started as a swim instructor, teaching children’s’ after school clubs and private lessons, before completing her Open Water coaching qualification and starting WOW (Wild & Open Water) Swim Coaching based in Cornwall.

“For me, being able to swim is one of the most important life skills someone could ever have, especially living in Cornwall. I feel extremely privileged to be in this position, teaching potentially life-saving skills, whilst giving children and adults the confidence and freedom they get from being in the water.

I love being close to nature and spend as much time possible outside, hiking, running, swimming, surfing as well as working on my other small ice cream van business. My moto is that you are only ever one swim away from a good mood!”


WHERE WE STAY

We will be staying in a traditional Ibicencan finca hidden in the campo in the heart of the island and waking up each day to a healthy breakfast prepared by our in-house chef.

Our boutique accommodation offers a true mix of today’s modern amenities in an centuries-old family farmhouse with a stunning outdoor pool, Yoga studio, terraces and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the countryside.

HOW TO BOOK

Cancellation Terms
If after booking you find that you are unable join us on the retreat for any reason please confirm this to us in writing and we will refund your spot according to the terms below:   

Cancellation more than 49 days prior to the retreat – 20% of full retreat price is non-refundable
Cancellation 30-49 days prior to retreat – 50% of full retreat price is non-refundable.
Cancellation 21 – 30 days prior to retreat – 70% of full retreat price is non-refundable.
Cancellation within 20 days of retreat – Full retreat price is non-refundable.


If we are forced to cancel the retreat for any reason we will offer you the choice of a full refund, credit note or postponed dates, whichever is your preference.  

We require that you take out your travel insurance at the same time as you pay your deposit to ensure you have the maximum coverage for any reason you may need to cancel.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I am traveling solo is that ok?  
Yes absolutely!  You will find a friendly crew and other solo travellers like yourself.  You can either opt for the private occupancy room or choose a twin share and we will match you with a roomie.

What should I pack?
Start with at least two swimsuits, a wetsuit is optional but advisable for the early morning and sunset swims, swimming goggles, a tow float, beach towel, small day rucksack, sun block, sun hat, sunglasses, insect repellant, some cosy comfy clothes for post-swim and Yoga sessions, waterproof, Covid-19 travel and travel insurance documents, Passport.
