From white to green – take your surfing to the next level with our Surf Sistas Improver Surf Coaching Week in Cornwall.
A fun, supportive and comprehensive surf course designed by women who love to surf, for women who want to progress with confidence.
Whether you’ve built your foundations in the sea or you’re coming from a wave pool, many surfers reach a point where things feel .. a bit stuck. You’re having a great time, but you’re quietly wondering if you’ll ever really step it up to the next level.
Maybe you’re surfing confidently in a wave pool but feel unsure in the sea. Maybe your standing consistently in white water waves but paddling out the back feels hit-and-miss, you’re not quite sure how or when to turn, swell reports look like another language, or your pop-up isn’t as reliable as you’d like. Perhaps you’re ready to buy your own board – but don’t know where to start.
If any of that sounds familiar, you’re in exactly the right place.
Our Surf Sistas White to Green Improver Surf Coaching Week is designed to help you move beyond the white water and onto those elusive green waves – and to translate the skills you already have to that next level.
This 5-day course is jam-packed with water time, alongside learning how to read the ocean, understand swell and conditions. We focus on confidence, decision-making, and feeling calm and capable in the sea – not just catching waves, but understanding wave choice, timing, and positioning.
We keep numbers small, with a maximum of 10 students on the course. With three Surf Sistas instructors plus our videographer/photographer on hand, you’ll receive plenty of personalised coaching throughout the week, alongside group sessions and – just as importantly – the encouragement and support of your fellow Sistas.
This is about progression that feels good. Not rushing. Not starting again. Just the next, right step.

This was my 3rd Surf sistas White to Green course and I still got so many new tips out of it! Due to the small group sizes and having same instructors all week, I got so much individualized feedback and was able to progress a lot! The instructors are very skilled and experienced and talk about many topics that aren’t often covered at other surfcamps that just try to get people to stand up on their boards as fast as possible. They also asked us what our goals were and were able to split the group into those who want to paddle out and those who want to stay further in based on the things people were working on and the size of the waves that people were comfortable surfing. The effort they put into the video analysis by filming so much footage is something I’ve never encountered at any other surfcamp. In addition to the great tips and progress during the course, the vibe of surfing with all-women crew is amazing! Can’t recommend this course enough!

Is this Course Right for Me?
This course is ideal if you’ve already learned to surf but feel a bit stuck in the white water – or if you’re surfing confidently in a wave pool and want to transition into the sea.
You might be popping up consistently but feel unsure about paddling out the back, lacking confidence in real ocean conditions, or uncertain about which waves to go for. Perhaps your pop-up has picked up a few bad habits, you want to learn to duck dive or turtle roll, or you can catch green waves but want to develop proper bottom turns and learn how to trim along the face.
If you’ve learned in a wave pool, this course is designed to help you translate those solid foundations into the ocean – learning how to read waves, position yourself, and make calm, confident decisions in an ever-changing environment.
If you are a complete beginner, we recommend joining one of our Surf Sistas Surf & Yoga Weekends or our Intensive Beginner Week before this course. That way, you’ll have covered the basics, be standing up comfortably in white water, and be ready to get the most out of the next step.
Course Hours & Structure
Course hours run from 9.30am – 4.30pm each day, with flexibility built in so we can make the most of the conditions. Be prepared for early mornings or sunset sessions if that’s when the best waves are on offer.
We run two coaching sessions per day, combining in-water coaching, video analysis, and theory sessions to support your progression both in and out of the sea. On Thursday evening, there is a group pizza evening (Vegan/GF/LI options available) to celebrate your wins with your fellow Sistas.
This was my first solo trip and it exceeded my expectations by miles. I have never had such in-depth and attentive surf coaching before. Can’t wait to come back!

Photo & Video Analysis
We will be using video and photographs taken of you throughout the week to help you to improve your technique. This is one of the most valuable methods to help you improve! You’ll see how you are positioned on the wave and the specific tweaks you may need to progress your technique, style and flow. You’ll also receive the photos and videos taken during the course as take homes.
For anyone that is interested there is the option to visit a local board shaper to discuss board design and how to choose the right board for you. This is a great opportunity if you are about to choose your first board or change the board you have at the moment and would like some impartial guidance.

Our Locations
We primarily coach at two epic beaches in Newquay; Fistral Beach and Towan Beach. Fistral beach is an exposed westerly facing beach that receives the full load of Atlantic swell. With reliable sand banks and lots of space to be had it’s one of the most consistent breaks in Cornwall, so a great surf spot to improve your surfing. We are also lucky to hold a licence to coach at Towan beach which faces North and provides that all important shelter from big swells and westerly winds that can max out Fistral beach. With these differing options on our doorstep we’re well equipped to handle most conditions and will locate ourselves for the most progression friendly waves each day.
Road Trip
If the conditions for Newquay aren’t in our favour, we’ll head further afield. Using the forecasting apps and our local instructors knowledge we’ll hit the road in search of waves and go on a mini adventure! Forecasting and choosing where to surf is also something we’ll teach you during the week.

I’ve had an awesome week with Surf Sistas and would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of doing one of their courses! It’s been so much fun to meet & surf with other girls, and also just get a female perspective on what is still largely a male dominated space. Not only did I get loads of valuable feedback on my own surfing, but also came away feeling like a safer and more confident surfer in the water. I can’t wait to get back out there!
